The point of my practice is to create a soothing image for my audience whilst creating a cathartic experience for myself.

I am Joe Horner, also known as Flower Blocks, a  photographer and visual artist based in the UK. I specialise in creating stunning and vibrant pieces using flowers as my primary subject.

With my degree in Fine Art from Chelsea School of Art, I have achieved numerous accolades throughout my career, including the prestigious Portrait of Britain, Palm Awards, and Portrait of Humanity awards. My work has been featured in prominent publications such as Vogue, Elle, Kinfolk, and Nowness, among others. My artistic prowess and unique perspective have firmly established me as a highly sought-after creative in the industry.

My artistic practice has been deeply influenced by my upbringing. Growing up with an avid gardener as a mother, I was exposed to the natural beauty of flowers from an early age. However, it was her encouragement to take things out of their norm and observe their reaction that sparked my curiosity and set me on my creative path. Through her guidance and support, my mother instilled in me a love for the art of creation and the confidence to explore new territories. This has been instrumental in shaping my artistic style and has allowed me to push the boundaries of my craft.

My practice explores the delicate balance between the natural beauty of flowers and the harsh realities of their surroundings. By presenting them in a surreal and unexpected way, I invite the viewer to contemplate the interconnectedness of all things. Creating these works is a deeply personal and therapeutic practice for me. In the midst of struggles with anxiety, immersing myself in the process of collecting and arranging these fleeting blooms has brought me solace and peace of mind. Each petal and stem represents a small victory over my own internal turmoil and serves as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always a glimmer of hope and resilience.
